Supervision:
Reports to Garage Manager.
Executes work under direction or established procedures 95% of the time, works independently setting work schedule priorities 5% of the time.
Does not supervise others.
Primary Purpose:
Safe and efficient repair and maintenance of truck and trailer equipment.
Essential
Responsibilities:
Perform assigned general maintenance tasks on company trucks and vehicles.
Maintains proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of all company equipment, primarily trucks.
Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and modifications on company equipment, primarily trucks.
Maintains proficiency in all aspects of preventative maintenance for company equipment.
Tests, repairs, and/or replaces electrical and lighting systems on trucks.
Repairs and overhauls truck brake systems.
Test, repairs, and/or replaces all mechanical systems of trucks
Interacts with customers, vendors, and other employees regarding truck repairs and other truck shop activities.
Completes required paperwork including truck write-ups, work orders, and time cards.
Assists technician in compiling and maintaining all documents necessary to comply with the requirements of local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
Safety Responsibility:
This position assumes responsibility for the workplace safety of self and co-workers, and for the safety conditions of the work location.
Working Conditions :
Minimal overtime may be required to fulfill responsibilities.
No overnight travel expected.
Extensive standing and/or walking on concrete.
Temperature extremes (summer and winter conditions) working in both indoor and occasionally outdoor weather conditions as required to maintain trucks and associated equipment.
On-call rotation duty for emergency breakdowns.
Qualifications: Requirements:
High school diploma or general equivalency degree required.
Minimum 2 years of maintenance trades experience or technical school graduate.
Must have basic hand tools.
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred; must obtain within first six (6) months of employment.
Sufficient vision and hearing necessary to operate powered equipment safely.
Must maintain a high level of quality and attention to detail.
Demonstrated aptitude in PC / laptop computer skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including excellent organizational skills.
Ability to effectively communicate and interact with diverse group of personnel, function as a team player.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Minimum Starting Wage:
Job: GarageEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
